教学目标:
a. 知识目标:学习方位词east , west
b. 能力目标:用英语描述事物的具体方位。
c. 情感目标:激发学生的情感,培养学生的交流与合作意识。
教学重点:
单词:(重点)east ,west,
(次重点)north, south, country, America, cousin.
句型:…。is in the east/west of …
教学难点:
灵活熟练地表达事物的具体位置。
教学手段:
录音机,光碟,课件,卡片,奖励措施
教学过程:
一、 复习导入
1. Warmer up: Sing the song: “Twinkle twinkle little star…。”
2. Show the star: North Star It can help people find the north.(初步感知方位)。
Show the earth: There are many countries on the earth. (出示单词country.) This country is China./ Japan/ America. (提前渗透国家的单词以及live in的用法)
3. Task Presentation: Show the mouse “Jerry” He is from America. America is a big country. Where does it live in America? Look! It lives in Los Angeles(Read.) Los angeles is in the west of America.
(Click and show the east and west part.) Jerry lives in the west of America. And he wants to go to China, too. 他想到中国来旅游,现在他需要一个最优秀的导游团,给他介绍一下他想去的地方的具体方位,你想成为最优秀的导游团吗?
二、 Text Presentation.
Now let’s learn Module 8 Unit 1. (Teacher plays the tape and they listen.)
Read and talk about cousin.
三、 Text Study
Now let’s listen again with two questions: Where does Simon live? Where is Los Angeles?
(一) He lives in the east of America.
(Taking out a long paper with the whole sentence. And practice in parts.)
east
in the east: An apple is in the east. /A flower is in the east.
In the east of America: New York is in the east of America.
(自由女神/白宫)It is in the east of America.
He lives in the east of America:
(Pictures): He lives in the east of America.
She lives in the east of Japan.
通过以上操练,让学生循序渐进地学习这个比较复杂的句式。
(二) T: Simon lives in the east of America. Does he live in Los Angeles? Ss:?CNo, he doesn’t.
T: Where is Los Angeles?
Los Angeles is in the west of America.
1. west (Read and compare with “wet”)
2. Chant: west, west, in the west of America. Los Angeles is in the west of America. Chant again with rhythm.
采用不同形式的chant操练,避免形式单一,也能达到学习效果。
(三) Follow Jerry to practice the use of “east” and “west”
1. Jerry is in the house: in the ____ (east/west) 通过Jerry被追地到处乱跑,让学生快速说出位置,在动态的情境中调动学生的说的兴趣,应用英语。
2. Jerry escaped: It’s in the ___ of New York.
It’s in the ___ of Los Angeles.
延续Jerry情境,让学生用句子表达Jerry的位置。这里有意识地选择了New York 和Los Angeles,再次操练这两个地点生词。
3. Jerry comes to China. Can you tell where are the cities?
Xining is in the west of China.
Shanghai is in the east of China.
Beijing is in the north of China. (Show the word “north”)
Hong Kong is in the south of China. (Show and practice “south”)
从中国的东、西方的两个城市的描述,到南北两个城市的描述,目的在于引出“north”“south”两个方位词。这两个词都是将在Unit2出现的,为了对方位有整体的感知,也在本课中提出作为弱化处理。
(四) Listen to the story again and have the students repeat.
Do the activity book. And check the answers.
四、Activities
1. Show the arrows as the symble of directions. Let the students say the four directions quickly. Talk about the directions of their groups. “We are in the east/ west/ north/ south”。 教室内的方位。
2. School trip
T: Where are we in school? (Show the pictures of school)
Ss: We’re in the west of our school.
T: Please tell Jerry about our school. (Show the pictures of the buildings and areas of our school)
Ss: It’s in the ___ of our school. 学校内建筑的方位。
3. Introducing your home to Jerry.
Talking about it in pairs and then say by individules.
The students who live in the same area stand up and say.介绍自己居住的小区的名称以及具体位置。描述的范围逐渐扩大,句式包含live in…和方位 in the … of …。
五、 Task Fullfilling
(Teacher shows the picture of Dalian with lots of places on it.)
T:Jerry wants to go to more places in Dalian. Can you be his tour guide?
1. Discuss in groups and fill in the forms.
2. Report in groups.
___ is in the ___ of Dalian.
____ is in the ___ of Dalian.
通过小组集体讨论,让每个学生都参与进来,运用本节课所学的英语知识。
六、 Conclusion and leaving homework.
1. Counting the stars of each group and find the best one.
2. Review what we have learnt today:
Four directions: east west noth south
Two cities: New York is in the east of America.
Los Angeles is in the west of America.
3. Homework: Practice introducing Dalian to your friends.
