  Steps:

  I. Warming up.

  1. Sing a song: Hello, my friend.

  2. Find, count and write. (Show a large picture of animals. P37)

  T: Look, this is a farm. Let’s find and count the animals.

  3. Say a rhyme: A farmer and ten chicks.

  One, two, put on my shoe.

  Three, four, open the door.

  Five, six, count the chicks.

  Seven, eight, open the gate.

  Nine, ten, chicks with the hen.

  II. New-teaching.

  1. Learn the new words.

  1) ‘chicken’

  a. (show a picture of hen)

  T: This is a hen. (show many eggs)Look, it bore many eggs for us.

  b. (show a picture of chicken)

  T: When the hen be old, it will be the delicious food, chicken.

  c. Learn to say ‘chicken’.

  d. Learn to say a rhyme.

  Eggs, chickens, which do you like?

  I like eggs/chickens. I like eggs/chickens.

  How about you?

  2) ‘sweet’ and ‘sweets’.

  a. T: You’re very clever. I’ll send you some sweets. One box of sweets for one group. (Send sweets to the students.)

  b. Learn to say ‘sweet’ and ‘sweets’.

  c. Please count the sweets. Then, tell me how many sweets are there in your box. (e.g. seven sweets)

  3) sandwich

  a. T: Are you hungry, now? I’m very hungry. I want to eat something.

  (show a piece of bread and a piece of meat)

  Look, here’s a piece of bread. Let me cut it.

  (Put the bread and the meat together.)

  Bread with meat, it’s a sandwich.

  b. Learn to say ‘sandwich’.

  c. Play a game: Throw the dices.

  Dice 1: egg, chicken, sweet, sandwich, coke, apple pie.

  Dice 2: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8.
